KZCF Takes Top Honors in Financial Performance

Kalamazoo Community Foundation is No. 1.

That’s according to a national ranking of community foundation financial investment performance by New York City-based Colonial Consulting.

In a ranking of community foundations nationwide, KZCF performed in the top 1 percent for the 10-year period ending September 30, 2017.

“Of course, we’re thrilled to reach this level of performance for the benefit of the community,” says Susan Springgate, vice president for Finance and Administration. “Our investment strategy is one of disciplined asset allocation, regular rebalancing, minimizing fees and expenses, and not reacting to near-term market pressures or investment fads.”

Previously, KZCF was ranked in the top two percent.

KZCF, established in 1925, has assets totaling $530 million. Thanks to the power of endowment, the Community Foundation has awarded a total of $434 million in grants to area nonprofits and in scholarships to area students.
