Scholarship Information
In 1993, family and friends established this scholarship in loving memory of Earl Cooper. Two scholarships are awarded annually to students who are planning to attend or are already enrolled at Jackson State University in Mississippi. One will be awarded to a chemistry major and one to a computer science major.

Eligibility Criteria
Minority student (African American, Mexican American, American Indian, or Puerto Rican) who plans to pursue a degree in chemistry or computer science at Jackson State University in Mississippi. A minimum 3.00 GPA is recommended; evidence of leadership potential is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need to attend JSU. Kalamazoo County residency is not required and applicants may be high school graduating seniors or students already enrolled at JSU.

Application Requirements
The following must be submitted directly to:

• One copy of the application. • One copy of an essay on why you feel you should receive this scholarship. • One copy of an official cumulative transcript of grades through the most recent term, including SAT and/or ACT test scores. • Two letters of recommendation from adults other than family members. • One copy of the financial aid package awarded by Jackson State University.
