Scholarship Information

The endowed Frank and Hildegarde Goodrich Family Scholarship Fund was established through gifts from Frank, Jr.; Walter; and Elizabeth; the children of Frank and Hildegarde Goodrich. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide meaningful financial support to incoming junior and senior undergraduate students and incoming or current graduate students enrolled at Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, the University of Colorado, and the University of Wisconsin. (These are universities from which the family members received degrees)

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kalamazoo County or a graduate of a high school within Kalamazoo County and be a full-time incoming junior or senior college undergraduate student or be enrolling full time in or currently enrolled full time in a graduate degree program.

Must be enrolled full time in a bachelor's degree program or enrolling in or currently enrolled in a master's degree or professional degree program at Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, the University of Colorado, or the University of Wisconsin.

Must have a minimium 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale (or equivalent) through the  most recent term/semester.

Must demonstrate participation in college and/or community activities as well as demonstration of work experience. Leadership, awards and recognitions will also be considered.



Application Requirements

  1. eGRANTscholarship application.
  2. Activities and Employment History Form must be filled out and attached to the eGRANT application.
  3. Essay typed into the text box in the eGRANT application addressing why you merit consideration for this scholarship. Include how extracurricular activities,  volunteer experiences and leadership roles have helped to prepare you for your choice of study. If you have overcome challenges or improved in motivation and achievement during high school and/or college please provide this information also.

The following must be mailed or delivered to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation by March 31:

  1. Two copies of the Scholarship Recommendation Form and Letters of Recommendation completed by adults other than family members.
  2. One copy of the most recent official transcript.

Award

$2,500

Non-Renewable, however recipients may reapply as first-time applicants.
