2009 Kalamazoo Community Foundation Highlights

In 2009: 

The Kalamazoo Community Foundation's assets totaled $245 million.

The Community Foundation received $9.4 million in new gifts from the community.

The Community Foundation and its donor partners invested $11.3 million in the community in the form of unrestricted and restricted grants.

The number of donors to the Community Foundation totaled 1,798.

Twelve new funds were established, bringing the total number of funds held at the Community Foundation to 786.

Fourteen deferred gifts—gifts made to the Community Foundation through an individual's estate plan—were created or confirmed.

The Community Foundation awarded $1.15 million in scholarships to 422 greater Kalamazoo area students for undergraduate and graduate education, and other educational opportunities.

The Community Foundation continued its Program and Business Related Investment program. Through the program, which was established in 2000, the Community Foundation's board of trustees has authorized more than $22.5 million in Program and Business Related Investments—low interest loans—to assist with economic and community redevelopment projects that will enhance the economic growth and vitality of the greater Kalamazoo area.
