The Clarence L. Remynse Scholarship
Clarence L. Remynse, a native of Kalamazoo, was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and Kalamazoo College. Upon graduation from Kalamazoo College, he stayed in Kalamazoo to eventually establish the Remynse Construction company. Upon his death in 1989, a Scholarship Fund bearing his name was established at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation along with a legacy of education, hard work and devotion to community.
It is in this spirit that the Kalamazoo Community Foundation offers this generous award opportunity. Scholarship awards range in value from $250 to $7,500 and are renewable.
Applicants are eligible to apply if they have been a permanent resident of Kalamazoo County for 12 months prior to the date of application or are a graduating senior or graduate of a Kalamazoo County high school. Applicants also must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll as a full-time student in an accredited college or university and pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree. Students must pursue a course of study that leads to a baccalaureate or graduate degree in business, science (including mathematics), law, education, psychology or medicine. Applicants also should possess leadership skills and demonstrate academic success and good citizenship. Financial need must be demonstrated according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The next application deadline for the Clarence L. Remynse Scholarship is December 1, 2008.
