Good Neighbor Grants
Some of the most innovative and effective ideas for change emerge from small and informal groups of people within a community. However, these groups may not always be familiar with the methods of obtaining funds to turn ideas into reality. BetterTogether/Kalamazoo reaches out to individuals, as well as to small, grassroots neighborhood groups through its Good Neighbor Grants program to support their efforts on behalf of the community. Good Neighbor Grants place resources for change in the hands of those closest to the issues that need to be addressed.
Good Neighbor Grants provide up to $1,000 of support to projects that:
• Enhance bridges between people who are different from each other in some significant way (e.g. race, religion, economic status). • Engage residents–especially those not previously involved in community activities–in projects that make a difference in the lives of all those involved. • Embrace youths in our community, organizations and families by involving them in project planning and/or providing leadership opportunities.
Applications for Good Neighbor Grants may be submitted to the Community Foundation at any time during the year. Grant decisions are made within three weeks of the date the Community Foundation receives an application. For more information about Good Neighbor Grants, contact Amy Slancik at (269) 381-4416. |
