Sara Carroll-Muniz is one of the co-leads of the Education Design Team, as well as interim co-executive director of ERACCE. She has been involved with the Ed Design Team since the early days of its development. She taught secondary Social Studies and Language Arts for about a decade in both Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, and English for Secondary Education at Western Michigan University, and holds a Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum with a concentration in Sociocultural Issues in Teaching and Learning from Michigan State.

Sara is passionate about young people and education, specifically about improving access to equitable, honest, representative curriculum and breaking down barriers between schools and marginalized populations. Sara has found her work in antiracism to be humbling, humanizing, and credits it with making her a more reflective, more connected parent, teacher, colleague, and friend. She is the parent of to two young children who fuel her commitment to educational justice and antiracist work in herself and in the community. In her down time, you can catch her walking Kalamazoo's many trails, reading, gardening, finding small marvels in nature with her kids, or building her repertoire of grandma skills.
