The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has five volunteer openings on its Environmental Justice Committee. The committee oversees the foundation’s Love Where You Live Environment Fund grantmaking.

The Love Where You Love Environment Fund supports environmental justice programs and projects in Kalamazoo County. Applicants should have a strong interest in and understanding of how race can determine who is exposed to environmental disasters and/or pollution. Responsibilities

  • Review grant proposals for alignment with Love Where You Live Environment Fund purpose.
  • Make annual funding recommendations for investments from Love Where You Live Environment Fund for the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees to consider.
  • Gather information to help inform the grantmaking practices and priorities of the Love Where You Live Environment Fund.

Time Commitment

This committee meets 2 to 3 times a year. One of the meetings is to review requests and recommend approvals to the trustees. The others are for gathering information to help inform future grantmaking.
